Summer 2006
The log cabin this year.  Very top heavy peaonies   Lotsa roses blooming   The ferns in front of the house are out of control, they're twice as big as last year  Amazing what a little weeding and mulch will do for stuff. The new lawn is doing better than I imagined, it's really weedy though, that will take a couple of years to correct.  Last year on June 12...  A year later   The water feature is growing in.  Gail and Karen's creations in the urns. They are gonna be neat, the potato vines and other creepers will likely grow right down to the ground and there is an artichoke in the center of each one.   Everything is so much bigger this year. It's so neat to see   More.    More pics around the garden from me.  Colors at the front. My newbie vegee garden and sitting area I'm gonna put stones a la walkways over top of the ugly concrete - this used to be a little basketball court. British climber beans, morning glory and hops have been planted to make pseudo walls and hide the ugly poles as they year/years progress.   The pond area. The ecology of this little bit of water is amazing, the fish have had hundreds of babies, there are tadpoles everywhere and the plant life is thriving. Nobody I've shown it to has ever seen it around here so I think it must have come in on the fruit trees brought in from New Zealand.   Close up.   My pumpkin is getting nice and orange.  A really big turtle has moved into the pond.  Gail and Karen bought this for Bandit to pee on (instead of the gardens)... he hasn't used it yet. Show him how Karen said. Not likely.  Aug 19 A month ago...  Today.   Regular family outings are becoming the norm around here. This week we went to Deep River, the town I was raised in. This is the beach I used to take swimming lessons at.  This is the bush I used to hide in while swimming lessons were going on.    It was really weird driving and walking around the town with my Mum and sister for the first time after all these years. Actually felt a little emptiness for my Dad. We ate lunch in the dairy we used to go to for a treat when we were kids. This is the house I grew up in.  Miscellaneous pics around the garden... Looks pretty pathetic at the moment - ain't bearing no fruit I complained to the gals - should be grown up in a few years I was told. Morning coffee and the paper    The beans make a pseudo wall of privacy for the sitting area.    This is supposed to be a zucchini I don't be thinking so, unless it's a hybrid zucchkin  Canna lily I think.  The grass is getting really long, the damn belt broke on my mower and it's been over a week now  It was a really nice day for a change  My new hammock. If I get in it, it cocoons me completely so I can't even see out. Not happy with that thing at all. The vegetables are doing remarkably well in some pretty crappy ground.     Woot, my first ever home grown cucumber.  Relaxing around the pond area.      Otta brought me this purple flower.  What's looking to be a huge sunflower in a very strange place, will have to ask Karen about this one.  More flowers...     A kiss.  Tyler's beanstalk?  Odd looking thing.  I like the color of these.  These are huge lilies, the new buds are like bananas.  More flowering things...    I like this little white number alot.  Neighbors    There's hundreds of these things around but they're cute nonetheless.  Roses after a sunshower.   And I saved my fave for last, don't know what these little space balls are called but they're really kewl.  |
